The determinant is like the scalar product, but some of its specific characteristics are different.

The determinant is often written surrounded by squared brackets or with: "det()":

det( ->{a}, ->{b})=[ ->{a}, ->{b}]= ^{a} o  ->{b}=a_x*b_y-a_y*b_x

det( ->{a}, ->{b})=-det( ->{b}, ->{a})

det( ->{a}, ->{b})=|a|*|b|*sin(v)

The determinant can also be used to find the angle between two vectors.

If the determinant is 0, the two vectors are parallel.
