Fractions

Fractions are subtracted the same way as they are added:

frac{a}{b}-frac{c}{d}=frac{a*d-c*b}{b*d}

First you find their equivalent fractions, so that they have a common denominator, and then you can subtract the numerators from each other.

Example:

frac{2}{9}-frac{1}{7}=frac{2*7}{9*7}-frac{1*9}{7*9}=frac{14}{63}-frac{9}{63}=frac{5}{63}

Here 63 is the smallest common denominator you get. So the calculation can’t be made more simple than that.
