Fractions

A fraction is proper, if the numerator is smaller than the denominator.

That is, the numerator divided by the denominator is more than -1 and less than 1.

If the denominator, on the contrary, is greater than the numerator, it’s an improper fraction that can be rewritten as a mixed fraction.
Example of an improper fraction:

frac{3}{2}=1+frac{1}{2}=1frac{1}{2}
